Ravings of an October lunatic
0ct 1 - Saturday
An attempt to sleep in failed yet again.
Tok. Tik. Tok.
* a gaudy and frightful rendition of the Blue Danube practically screams from my mobile*
I'm actually surprised, for the few hours of sleep I captured were very deep. Could it be this new massage/infrared bed? I tried it at my aunties house last night; it produced pain at first, those two balls rolling along my spine. But afterwards, a drugged state of sleep.
I had to send my car to get fixed today. No batteries, numerous little rust patches, a new light for the left indicator...and finally, just received a call from Nick the mechanic, "you're brakes are really worn down". YIKES! am I dancing with death? perhaps I am. Doesn't that seem such a romantic notion? My every transit could be my last.
Thats right, I saw a terrible accident on Tom Ugly's bridge last week. Those utes looked like the victims of a crash orchestrated by a young child playing with toy cars....sidling over the rims of the bridge, mouth of the car gaping wide open; little lego police men with their flashing blue red lights always at the end of a horror scene, too late to be the saviour. Is there any sense in these occurences? Does life dish them up to you when you least expect it? and do things (good bad or ugly) happen in threes?
Mid week - first week of Oct
MY DESK!
I can see it once more! I think its been 2 or 3 years....
The things I found were somewhat of a revelation. Wooya for example, a hard copy blog. For Me, Dishy, JenJen and Bumble Bee. Stories of Dan Tarts and the irreplaceble "cheeses" brought smiles to my eyes. Aspirations of travels, ideals and poetry. It was great to see that I had fulfilled at least one of my goals. Travelling the world.
I found a cool photo collage of Aidy kickboxing in his backyard. Its like one of those snapshot series when you leave your camera exposed to capture the perfect moment only to realise missed it after all.
I also found all my uni diaries, I used to go clubbing a lot with Nicole and Tina it seems... Ep1 in Kings cross, Angel bar at Martin Pl, Club 77 on William st (when there was a cool DJ). What happened to all my energy? does working fulltime turn you into a boring person?I miss Smash the Disco at the metro. Those were the days when you could command the entire dance floor amongst your posse and bop to The Smiths and The Cure...and not even know the fact that you were becoming an hep "indie kid".
Oct 7th Saturday (again)
Pulled an all nighter last night. Didn't realise I still had it in me. Regardless, the cramming helped for the mid-sem. 130MCQs and an uncertainty rate of 20/130. We'll see what happens next week...
Feeling the freedom as one does when released from an exam, I waltzed up to broadway. Spoke to Monki - and I'm impressed to say that he has already found a place in Ashfield to make his dream of living away from home a reality. How exciting! another place to crash.
Strolled up to the Dendy cafe in Newtown to meet Nicole and Tina for a spot of shopping. I finally visited Glebe markets for the first time upon our return - everyone eagerly bought an item despite NOT needing anymore items of clothing...I made Tina and Nicole go to this shoe store near Broadway and Nicole got these beautiful blue heels.....absolutely gorgeous. Seeing as they didn't have my size - I had to make her buy them! Isn't it fantastic when you make a friend buy something YOU think is pretty?
Dr Pod refused to be fixed. After consulting the apple store, it was suggested I update his software. But it didn't work even after positive coaxing from both Tina & I. 2 hours of watching the folder with an exclamation mark. Dr Pod needs to be replaced.
Saturday night at the crapshack...practically the whole gang was there so it was mega-fun!
Fiona whipped up a delicious nachos dip of some sort. Then we had chicken burritos - although I had no idea how to construct one that resembled a proper burrito. We filled our bellies whilst watching "Dirty Dancing 2". I didn't even KNOW there was a sequel. Lame as it was...the main characters lacked chemistry and true dancing talent. Patrick Swayze even had a cameo as a dance instructor. He looked stretched (well his face did anyway). We then proceeded to prove that "Dirty Dancing" the original was "10 times" ( according to Tina)better than the sequel. "Nobody puts baby in a a corner" - and I agree - its her sister that should be as we decided she looked like a man.
Ken showed us as video of the awesome rollercoaster he constructed at his place. It even has carriages that zoom along the spirals and steep steep paths. I guess you can buy just about any kind of toy in Japan! OK - don't get the wrong idea, you can't actually sit in it. Its a model - maybe 70cm high.
Mikhi had a magic touch for the first half of the night - she revived Dr Pod momentarily. Although, he still couldn't connect to a computer. Apple sucks. Don't they know that all these system bugs create such heartache for the music lover?
Oct 8th Sunday
Lisa discovered the delight in cooking a chocolate fudge cake. Which we easiy devoured with raspberries. We finally saw Charlie and the chocolate factory - which was a lot better than I expected because I'd heard such negative comments. There was a lot more insight into Willy Wonka's character; which was an interesting adaptation. I liked how his father was a dentist who didn't allow him to eat candy and as a form of rebellion, he became a world renowned candy maker.
We also saw Big Trouble In Little China. A truely fantastical movie. The Wing-kongs, the 3 storms, immortal Lo Pan, gorgeous girls with green eyes to appease the burning blade, and Kurt Russell - sporting a reflex to make the gods envious. I hope Lisa didn't get scared!
Oct 16 Sunday
Anne of Green Gables day.
I have one of these maybe once every 2 months. Only this time I took it further and finally watched the final instalment when they go to World War 1. It was such a tear jerker - of course I expect no less; having emptied a litre of water from my eyeballs previously...Gilbert was such a dashing young man - but having aged, he lost some of the boyish appeal. At least they gave him cred by being a conscionable ( can't spell this - and I'm not sure if this is the right word) doctor.Diana was as gorgeous as ever. I really loved all the 1910s outfits of the wealthy. That reminds me - I tried on one of those sequin headbands with the flamboyant feather representing the height of 1920's headwear - at the markets. If only I had somewhere to wear it....twas so purty.
Compliment of my week: you're like a walking comedy show. (from the great lemonhead) Although I swear I wasn't trying to be funny at all. I'm often misunderstood.
Oct 17 Monday
Sleep...Finding the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow...A caress of purity beheld in the majestic horn of a unicorn...Understanding what life has in store for you...
Do you see the correlation between the above? Each unattainable.
Sleep still eludes me. The larger part of saturday was spent lazing about; copying the entire artist listing for my 4000+ song collection on Dr Pod; sleeping, watching DVDs (on this note - everyone should watch "The Prince & Me" the guy who played Prince Edvard of Denmark was hot!)and dancing. WOW! You sound surprised. Question:"Why is she still complaining about not getting enough sleep when clearly saturday was spent totally unproductively?"Answer:The hours were wrong, slept in the arvo, danced til 3am. The wrongness has carried over onto the week...
I could not keep my eyes open in class tonight. It was a misery trying struggling to stay awake. For the worse, I neglected to bring a bottle of water to keep me afloat.Never again. I could envision the oasis amidst the dunes.Plastic palm trees, a shimmering pool of blueness for the water that wasn't real. Note to self - wear a squishy water suit when trekking in the desert.
I've no idea who (if any) noticed my forehead rush towards my desk in a manner completely lacking control. My trusty buttress roots for arms must of failed me...*sigh* I have scribbles for 1/2 a page and I have no idea what I wrote. Dont' you hate that? Admit it - I'm sure you've unintentionally grabbed shut eye in a uni class before.
Only its no excuse if you've 4 classes a night as I do. Everything runs together in a blurry mess of stress and time disappearance. I feel the pressure of covering those last few metres before crossing the lap line which grants you several more seconds of life in a Daytona challenge. Finals are in 2 weeks!
Interviews with my manager at work have me confused. What am I doing this time around?
On a sad note - the cool worm has returned to the motherland. Uncertain of her return; she has a journey ahead of her. I hope she manages to gain confidence with her family. I know I could never live without mine. Funnily enough, the night before I was shooting home on a train (after a night of drinks at the roofy and delicious handmade noodles at Burlington with some beautiful ppl a.k.a ken, robbie, and michelle) and I met Ian. Yes - he is a silent one.
All I know is that HK guys are too weedy and daringly colourful with their fashion ensembles.eeeeeeeeewwww. The mullet should not be "in" for asians (nor anyone else). I'm sure it never was - and its sad to see that after the 80s no one has learnt this valuable lesson. However amusing they [the mulletheads] may be.
